Bohemia Milano, Project Italy Day 10

I am living a slightly unconventional and artistic life at the moment so it's only fitting that I throw an old world bohemian look into the mix - I hope you like it.

Vintage Victory Rolls, Project Italy Day 9

While I'm getting my Italy on, the Melbourne bridal enquiries keep rolling in. Yesterday I received one from a lovely bride-to-be who put together an amazing mood board for her dream look. My hair and makeup today is a tribute to her!

First section out the fringe and clip it out of the way.

Take the first side section from just behind the ear up towards the parting, roll and secure with bobby pins.

Repeat this on the other side, setting the second roll slightly lower than the first.

Divide the back section of hair into two sections and roll each one up, leaving the ends out, and secure with bobby pins.

Roll the ends up and pin them into the back opening of the front rolls. If my fringe section was longer it would be rolled up and joined into the opening of the side roll.

Like so.

Apply foundation - I've used Giorgi Armani Luminous Silk.

Highlight in between the eyebrows and down the nose, either side of the nose, underneath and along the outer edges of the eyes and, lastly, under the lip on either side of the chin.

Lightly blend the highlight being careful not to make it disappear.

Set with powder in Mac Mineralise Skin Finish Medium.

Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks in Mac

Comb the brows up and fill in the gaps with light brown eyeshadow from Viseart Cool Matte palette.

Using a firm angle brush, apply wing eyeliner in Mac Black Track.

Lightly apply dusty pink eyeshadow from Viseart Cool Matte palette and lots of mascara in black. Lipstick is Lady Danger by Mac.

Finally! Made in Italy, Project Italy Day 8

I have a confession to make...

I am addicted to online shopping. My family and friends are my main emotional support. When they're not there for me, Asos is.

My husband, on the other hand, gets his online shopping fix from Shop the Finest. A place where, for a hundred bucks or so, men can get hand sewn shirts from the tailors of Napoli. Anyone else notice how much harder it is to find primo product at a reasonable price for women compared to blokes? My husband has - he sometimes teases that he is Made in Italy and I am Made in China.

I'm in Milano now and that's all set to change. Here's the wash up after my first shopping spree...

Monday Madness, Project Italy Day 7

This first edition of Monday Madness comes courtesy of a chance visit to MUD Make-Up Designory Milano.

I was wandering through the Navigli area - one of my favourites so far - and came across the MUD store. I picked up a free copy of MUD ART magazine and was instantly drawn to this look.

Now it's time to recreate it!

Start with Ben Nye cream stick in white.

Then blend.

Contour Ben Nye character shadow.

Then blend.

Using the straight edge of a fine makeup brush like a ruler, outline above the brow and down towards the nose with black eyeliner.

Shade the outer edge of the eye on a diagonal line up towards the black line with Mac eye shadow in Embark.

Fill inside the black lines with Ben Nye cream stick foundation in black then set with Mac eye shadow in Carbon.

Highlight under bottom lash line with Kryolan highlight and set with Mac Mylar eye shadow. Now contour underneath the highlight with Ben Nye character shadow and set with Mac Brown Down eyeshadow.

Braid the side.

Put up the top section of hair in a ponytail about an inch from the hairline. Apply padding around the base of the band and secure with bobby pins, then cover the padding with ends of hair and pin the end into the padding.

Take the back section of hair and put it into a pony tail slightly to the side of the crown area. Put the ponytail into a rough bun and secure with bobby pins.

Lazy Sunday: Festa di Papa; Project Italy Day 6

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

A change of pace today with my lazy Sunday hair and makeup. Slow and easy is my favourite Sunday vibe and today I'm keen to get out and enjoy Fathers Day with my little girl and my husband.

Inspired by Prada, Project Italy Day 4

Today's look is inspired by Prada FW2015 which came to me through a little pressie from my husband. The collection features in Amica Magazine which he got from a street vendor around the corner from us.

Straightening my hair the lazy way. Oops! :O

Here I iron straight over dry, curly hair; not the smoothest or most polished finish but I'll be changing my look tomorrow so it doesn't need to last long.

strait-hair-fashion.JPG

Wow! It's been so long since I've straightened my hair - I barely recognise myself.

top-knot-milan.JPG

Take a section from ear to ear and put in a high pony tail, catching the ends to create a topknot.

Fan out the topknot to create a chignon and close off the outside edges by pinning them to the base.

Take the remaining section up into a high ponytail and secure. If my hair was one length and not heavily layered through the top this look could be done with one section leaving out the ends and sweeping them off to the side.

Like so.

Apply Foundation with Sigma Kabuki brush is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk mixed with Ben Nye cream stick foundation in white to lighten off. Powder down with Mac mineralize skin finish natural in light.

Apply blush to the cheek bones and apples with Mac Pinch O Peach and Well Dressed.

Eye shadow is blush baby lightly applied the sockets. Fill in brows with firm angle brush using eyeshadow in Mac Haux. Lip is Mac Pretty Please, lightly powdered down. Mascara in black is very lightly applied and combed out.

Finish off with a fully legit Prada broach that I scored for 1 Euro from a local market.
